Tag – 6 random things

November 18, 2008 · 2 Comments

My Dad tagged me today. Here are the rules:

Link to the person who tagged you.
Post the rules on your blog.
Write 6 random things about yourself.
Tag 6-ish people at the end of your post.
Let each person know he/she has been tagged.
Let the tagger know when your entry is up.

Six random things about me:

1. I am the laziest busiest person I know.
2. Up until this summer, I had preconceived notions about people who live in trailer parks. That is a nice way of saying I thought less of them.
3. When I was young I had a secret crush on a girl named Sarah. I went to my brother’s baseball game and she was there because her brother played baseball. She was watching the game. I was keeping my eye on her. I was quickly brought back to reality when a foul ball hit me right on the head. What are the chances?
4. I hate green vegetables. Seriously. (except lettuce)
5. I love my job. I want to be in ministry for the rest of my life. But I secretly want to be a cop/security guard/carry a gun at work.
6. If I could find a way to take all the vision God has given me and put it into action, I have no doubt that I could make a significant change.

I Tag:

1. Kristi:unlinkable
2. Terry
3. Melisa
4. Kellie
5.umm… everyone else is linked already

My Thoughts on Proposition 8

November 5, 2008 · 5 Comments

First I need to preface this by saying, Congratulation President Elect Obama. I didn’t vote for you, but I hope you can do many positive things for this country. I will be praying for you. (By the way, Obama isn’t in my computer’s spell check, the computers need to learn this one.)

Well it looks like Proposition 8 has passed in California, thus banning gay marriage in a state that already has married gay couples. This is a very sensitive issue for many people and understandably so.

According to The LA Times there was $74 million spent on this Proposition 8 campaign between the 2 sides.. Honestly that is just sickening. I did a little playing with the numbers and figured out with that kind of money you could sponsor nearly 11,000 children through Compassion from birth until they reach the age of 18! We as Christians would rather fight “moral” dilemmas than actually help people. Christians work so hard to maintain family values and look great doing it – at least to other Christians they look great. To the rest of the world we look oppressive, we look like fundamentalists, we are the face that is denying civil rights to a certain group of people…

Homosexuality is wrong. There is no doubt in my mind that it is sinful. Does that mean we discriminate, alienate, and persecute homosexuals? or does it mean we show them love as Christ showed us love in our sin?

    Campaign Spending

What is worse, for the first time in U.S. history, candidates have raised over $1 Billion. Can you imagine the good that could be done with $1,000,000,000?

Direct from Apple:

“Apple is publicly opposing Proposition 8 and making a donation of $100,000 to the No on 8 campaign. Apple was among the first California companies to offer equal rights and benefits to our employees’ same-sex partners, and we strongly believe that a person’s fundamental rights — including the right to marry — should not be affected by their sexual orientation. Apple views this as a civil rights issue, rather than just a political issue, and is therefore speaking out publicly against Proposition 8.”

hmmm… your thoughts, then mine.

Clear Conscience? Hardly

October 24, 2008 · 2 Comments

I know, I know… then why do it? I couldn’t have a clear conscience with any of the possibilities. This is so cliche but: “the lesser of 2…” you know?

Birthday present from my cat.

September 8, 2008 · 3 Comments

My Birthday started with finding out Ollie (the devil cat) had chewed through my power cable for my Macbook, completely severing it. The cable is $80 to replace from apple!!! I found one on eBay for $48- I hope it works. Because my battery is now in the red and today I will be going back to the windows computer. Just when we think we have overcome a problem in life (windows O.S.) we backslide into the crap we were in before.

But I did sleep until nearly noon today, had cinnamon toast crunch, and have no plans for today! I start house sitting tonight.

It was great to see Tom and Kristy this weekend. Unfortunately I miss them already and probably won’t see them until April when Brian gets married.
